The IC-7300 employs a direct RF sampling system. RF signals are directly converted to digital data and processed in the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), making it possible to simplify the construction of the circuit. This system is a leading technology that will mark an era in ham radio.

Direct RF Sampling System - A World's First Radio-Amateur

Instead of the conventional superheterodyne system, the IC-7300 uses the RF direct sampling system - a first for an amateur radio transceiver. This technology is seen in software-defined radios and other radio equipment. RF signals are primarily processed via the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), thus eliminating physical mixing devices and filters and offering a high-performance real-time spectrum indicator in a compact body. The new bet of ICOM for the new SDR technology in the world of telecommunications


Phase noise characteristics

Overcoming the cost and performance limitations of the superheterodyne system, the RF direct sampling system pursues high-performance phase noise. As a result, compared to the IC-7200, the phase noise characteristics of the IC-7300 are improved by over 15dB (at 1 kHz compensated). This higher phase noise reduces noise components in both receiving and transmitting signals.

Large TFT LCD touch screen

The IC-7300 has a large TFT color LCD and can be used as a touch screen. This easy-to-use interface offers intuitive operation. With the touch screen soft keyboard, you can easily configure various functions and edit memory content.

Multi-line drive for responsive operation

When the multi-line knob is pressed, the menu items are displayed on the right side of the screen. You can select an item with one touch on the screen and adjust the levels by turning the multi-line knob. This combination of the touch screen and multi-line knob offers fast and smooth operation.

To offer optimum sound quality, a new speaker unit is employed and sufficient space is allocated in the die-cast aluminum chassis.
